LANDSCAPE ON A CONTINENTAL SCALE
INSULA
creation 2024
INSULA is an immersive video installation whose starting point is a 30-minute sequence shot of an individual an island that has appeared, like an epiphany, following heavy rainfall in Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
INSULA is a metaphor for a single land that can be crossed from west to east over a distance of 12,000km, while it only takes him 30 meters to cross the island. I disproportionately invert the relationship of scale that is supposed to correspond to the journey itself, so that two totally distinct and contradictory time-spaces totally distinct and contradictory. It's a poetic and geographical vision of a continent that is, after all, divided into two distinct Europe and Asia, even if no sea separates them.
