“Research is that essential creative time when the artist freely explores his or her own issues. This process leads them to experiment, test, abandon, doubt and choose... Research is therefore a necessary time. In this sense, L'L is a rare place, a place that resists and offers possibilities for exploration, with no obligation to achieve results. At Michèle Braconnier's invitation, I agreed to make a film for the 25th anniversary of L'L. A film about the place and its residents. What many still call a theater is a place of experimentation where no performance is given. It's about searching rather than showing. No rules, no constraints are imposed on me. I decided to film the artists in residence for a year: from April 20, 2015 to April 20, 2016. Like the L'L residents, I choose to put myself in the position of researcher. There are appointments at the beginning of the residency and at the end. Michèle introduces me and I film everything. Without saying a word, I try to disappear. I decide not to anticipate, not to write a script, so as to be completely receptive to what/who I discover. The idea will come later. Waiting for the de-rushing, capturing the words that will echo within me, to then find the images that will make the film, certainly closer to an exquisite corpse than a documentary. For me, it's about finding the film behind the 25th image.
